This is Lysse’s Life.

After leaving her magazine editor position in December of 2007, Lysse Allen started her own blog, This is life in Austin.  Written in a cultivating, easy to undestand manner, her blog/journal is a masterpiece of collections about her adventures and events going on around Austin; diets, marathons and even bar crawls.  Her free spirit personality can be easily “seen” in her writing, with  phrases such as, “I did have a drink or two last night–hard liquor only, of course, as it has no carbs.”.  It doesn’t matter if your in to metal or pop, fast food or fine dinning, This is Life in Austin,  can be enjoyed by anyone who is looking for a fun time in one of the best cities of the world, Austin.

1) What inspired you to start your own blog?
I’m a freelance writer, so I started the blog to share about all the awesome events I knew about but my friends didn’t. It ended up helping me establish credibility in the community as well.
 2) Many people blog for different reasons. What is your ultimate goal as a blogger?
I just want to share everything cool about Austin (and Aspen)! I love both cities and just want to talk about them. The perks aren’t bad either–it’s like the more I do, the MORE I get to do.
3) How long did you think about it before you started blogging and what was the catalyst for your first post?
I just started once I thought, “hey, I could share this event with people through a blog.”
 4) What do you hope readers take away from reading your blogs?
Fun stuff to do! A sense of balance–that you should definitely go out and drink and dance and party, but you should also CrossFit and eat good food and take care of yourself too.
 5) What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of maintaining a blog? How do you choose to address it?
Sometimes there is absolutely nothing I want to write about. I won’t stress if I don’t post for a day or three, but after that I force myself to write something, anything, and not worry about it being the best thing I’ve ever written. It gets the mojo going again, and that’s what matters.
 6) What other blogs do you enjoy reading and why?
I love reading cooking blogs because they’re inspirational, even if I don’t follow the recipes exactly, and I love reading CrossFit blogs because that’s where I get a lot of workout ideas and the latest nutrition research. I love funny blogs too, and the blogs of my friends.
 7) If you could narrow it down to one answer, what do you love the most about Austin? Why?
The people. We’re so effing cool.
 8) How has blogging changed your life?
It’s introduced me to people I never would have met otherwise, and I’ve made so many friends through the blog.
 9) Are there other blogs/websites do you maintain?
I’m the editorial director for EndlessBeauty.com, an awesome website that also has a blog that I oversee and write on occasionally, and I write my own CrossFit blog (xlyssa.com), plus sometimes contribute to TheLabelSaysPaleo.com.
 10) Has the city of Austin brought you any local advantages or disadvantages that affect your blog?
Hell yes, tons of local advantages. Austin is so wired and connected!
11)  Do you have a favorite post on your blog.
Nah, of course not. But you can definitely tell when I’m super excited about something, and when I’m only just mildly interested in it.
12)  Have you had any interesting reactions from your blog (either on the internet or in real life)
I get a lot people who are shy to tell me they read my blog, which is funny. But then I also get people who are like, “OMG YOU’RE LIFE IN AUSTIN?! I LOVE YOUR BLOG!” which rocks, naturally.
